Jon - I'm not sure that any of us can realistically give you a positive answer to your dilemma because of the changes you made to your bars, etc. The best we can hope to do is give a testimonial of what works on our bikes' configuration. I had made the front seat lift described on this forum, removed the plastic wrap from between the seat pan and the foam and mounted my seat in the back at the lowest position in the 10mm mounting slots and with the regular pull back bars, I was good for a minimum of 2 hours. After my backrest addition that change alone doubled my riding comfort factor. Recently, on a thread on this site, I bought a used gel seat. It along with my backrest is the ultimate in luxury without going full blown all day tourer. The gel seat has a cloth seat panel so it will absorb water. Be careful when washing or it will look like you wet your pants. Your bars are your problem, not the seat I would be inclined to say. J.C.Whitney has gel seat pads for 40-80 dollar price range and also air hawk seat pads but I again don't think that's your problem. You could just have a terribly sensitive posterior.
